tobago

Tobago: Columbus had left Spain to the Portuguese island of Porto Santo; he’s wife’s native land, Fillipa Moniz. He then left Porto Santo to go to Madeira, and spent some time with the Portuguese captain João Gonçalves da Camara before leaving to the Canary Islands and Cape Verde. On July 31 Columbus landed on the south coast of the island Trinidad. From August 4th to the 12th he explored the Gulf of Paria which separates Trinidad and Venezuela. He also explored the mainlands of South America including the Ornico River. And as he was sailing through Chacahcare and Magharita Island he spotted an Island now a day called Tobago but Columbus had named it Bella Forma back then.
