Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico: Columbus was continuing his journey to the Great Antilles and stopped in Puerto Rico or what Columbus had named it back then San Juan Bautista. He had named San Juan Bautista in honor of Saint John the Baptist, which was later replaced by the new country name as Puerto Rico meaning Rich Port and named the capital San Juan. On November the 19th, 1493 during Columbus’ second voyage one of the first times a European met a Native American since the time of Vikings is when Columbus’ crew members rescued to natives who had had just been castrated by their captors.
